Do you speak English as a Second Language? Have you ever noticed:
  • people have trouble understanding you?
  • you get frustrated having to repeat yourself?
  • you avoid speaking to unfamiliar listeners?
  • you struggle in school because class participation and oral presentations are required?
  • you would interview for a job or promotion but hold back because of your accent?
  • you feel that what you want to communicate is lost because your speech is not understood?

Did You Know?
An accent is the difference in pronunciation that may occur when speaking a second language. A dialect includes an accent and linguistic characteristics including but not limited to grammar, semantics, vocabulary.  English as a Second Language classes typically focus on linguistic areas while Accent Reduction focuses on teaching nonnative English speakers how to better use the sounds system of Standard American English.

An accent is not a disorder and courses taught are instructional in nature. Classes are taught by a Compton PESL Certified Instructor who has a background in speech-language pathology.  Care For Communication, LLC is set up to provide Accent Modification Services online for clients that have internet access, microphone and webcam.
