Where do you provide services?
Telepractice is an exciting new service delivery option for many clients. You participate in sessions via a video conferencing platform. Many clients find this to be ideal as they can participate in sessions with greater schedule and location flexibility.
We provide consultation, screening, evaluation and therapy services in your home or some other mutually agreed upon location for local clients. Some clients are seen at their daycare, at work or in a public library. We like the idea of working in the client's natural environment because this is where they communicate so learning in this environment facilitates carryover of skills.

What are your hours?
We offer very flexible scheduling options especially for our teletherapy clients. Our scheduling attempts to accommodate busy clients with daytime as well as evening hours Monday-Sunday.
How do I pay for services?
Care For Communication, LLC is private pay only at this time. Cost depends on the service and we have packages available to meet the needs of most clients. We want our services to be accessible by everyone. If your insurance allows you to see out of network providers and you have coverage for speech language therapy we do provide a bill that can be submitted for reimbursement. Determining if speech language therapy is a covered benefit is your responsibility. We can provide basic assistance to help you navigate your insurance coverage.
Payment is due at the time service is provided.

Can you help with stuttering even though I had therapy in the past?
It is our belief that if you have concerns about your fluency in that you are not able to engage in the world to your fullest potential then it is worth the time spent to talk with us about your experience and situation. We offer free consultations and a variety of intervention options. We feel that if the client wants help but has reservations because of prior treatment not measuring up to expectations perhaps now is the time that things will click for them. Send us an email or give us a call today!
What is Teletherapy? How does this work? I love the idea of therapy from home!
Teletherapy (telepractice/telemedicine) is providing services at a distance over the internet. The privacy of our clients is very important to us and we are HIPPA compliant. Teletherapy sessions must be as effective as services provided face to face so although we can't recommend this model of service delivery to everyone, there are many times when outcomes are even better. Learn more about telepractice here and here.
My child does not qualify for speech in school but has trouble saying some sounds/expressing thoughts/understanding language. Can you help?
Qualifying for speech/language therapy in the public schools often requires evidence that there is a negative impact on educational performance. Some parents choose to explore speech-language services as a way to possibly help their child reach their maximum potential and not remain just on grade level.
Having an Accent is not a disorder, right?
Correct! A person that speaks English as a second language will usually have an accent but that is not anything like a person that has a speech disorder. A disorder is when a person has not met developmental articulation milestones in their native language (therapy intervention) Accent Modification teaches the client the sound system of their 2nd (or 3rd!) language so they can improve pronunciation and facilitate better communication. Accent Modification teaches skills to modify a speech difference (training intervention). Our instructor is Compton P-ESL certified and also happens to be a speech language pathologist.
My child is going to Kindergarten next year and I'm not sure he is ready. Should I contact you?
Yes, please contact us for a free consultation. Literacy and language skills go hand in hand and speech language pathologists are uniquely trained providers to promote age and grade level appropriate reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. When you think about it, school is all about communication!
Do you work with Adults?
We work with clients throughout the lifespan. Adults may wish to revisit prior therapy goals now that they are older and self motivated. Other adults may have a medical issue such as a stroke, Parkinson's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Traumatic Brain Injury or other illnesses that compromises their ability to fully communicate.
My child was dismissed from speech language services in the school he attends. I still think he needs help. Should I contact you?
Just as in qualifying a student for speech language services in a school, a student can be eligible for dismissal (declassification) once they are no longer exhibiting academic impact. It is very appropriate for parents to seek intervention from a private therapist because the educationally relevance is not a requirement for services.
Do you have experience working with transgender clients?
A speech-language pathologist is trained to work with clients that exhibit both voice and communication (language) disorders. During graduate school in the late 1980's, Lynda had the good fortune to receive initial training with the transgender/transsexual population both in individual and group sessions. Working with this population has always been a passion of hers and now that Care For Communication, LLC is equipped and trained to provide teletherapy, it is an area of focus and interest for the practice in that geographic location is no longer a barrier to services.
My father had a stroke and has trouble communicating. He uses a computer and even video chats with us every day. He does not drive so he can not get to a therapist. Would teletherapy be a good fit for him? Thanks!
If you are able to communicate with your father via webcam and he is able to use this technology on his end, then chances are he would be a perfect fit for teletherapy! Contact us today for a free consultation and we can talk more. Thank you for caring about your father's ability to communicate!
